The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched a new online change of address tool known as the Enterprise Change of Address (E-COA) self-service platform.

This is to make it easier for clients with outstanding applications, petitions, or requests to amend their address with USCIS.

E-COA will considerably increase the speed and efficiency with which applicants can update their addresses with the agency.

Most individuals with a USCIS online account can use E-COA to update their mailing and physical address with USCIS for pending applications, petitions, or requests.

This will eliminate the need to update the address in multiple places, such as;

  • filling out a paper AR-11,
  • Alien’s Change of Address Card;
  • call the Contact Centre; or visit a USCIS Field or Asylum Office.

E-COA will automate address changes for nearly all form types (exceptions can be found at uscis.gov/addresschange).

Customers who do not have any pending applications, petitions, or requests can utilize the program to tell U.S.C.I.S. that they have moved.

The E-COA tool is only available in English and can be used using a USCIS online account, regardless of whether a person’s pending case was filed online or by mail.

You can not use E-COA during the first phase if you are protected under 8 USC 1367. This includes people who have or have had applications or petitions approved for VAWA benefits, T nonimmigrant status, or U nonimmigrant status, as well as their beneficiaries or dependents.

Applicants or petitioners who are represented in VAWA, T, or U matters can ask for a change of address by emailing the mailbox listed under Inquiries for VAWA, T, and U Filings.

Individuals who are unrepresented and have VAWA, T, or U-related cases can request a change of address by following the guidelines on the How to Change Your Address webpage.

Individuals who applied for parole on behalf of an Afghan citizen can request a change of address for beneficiaries who have relocated outside of Afghanistan by following the guidelines on the Information for Afghan Nationals webpage.

Individuals must have a USCIS online account and submit their last name, date of birth, and new physical and mailing addresses to use the E-COA tool.

Individuals should also send information about any outstanding applications, petitions, or requests.

It is important to note that changing your mailing address with the United States Postal Service (USPS) will not modify your mailing address with USCIS.

You should update your information with both USCIS and the US Postal Service. Address changes submitted via E-COA will have no impact on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or Privacy Act (PA) requests.

You need to email FOIAPAQuestions@uscis.dhs.gov if you need to modify your address for a FOIA or PA request.
