According to government statistics, approximately 104,000 individuals entered the UK on Monday using Ukraine visa programs, and more are about to join them. Here is everything you need to learn.

As per government statistics, more than 100,000 people who were escaping the conflict in Ukraine have found refuge in the UK thanks to its visa policies.

According to data released by the Home Office and UK Visas and Immigration on Monday, about 104,000 individuals had entered the UK via Ukraine visa programs.

After the Government’s visa programs were introduced in March, the threshold was hit within six months.

The Government expressed gratitude to the general population for being so kind as to welcome individuals seeking protection into their homes.

The figure includes 72,700 persons sponsored by Homes for Ukraine and 31,300 people under the family program.

More than half of those who filed for visas—nearly 200,000 in total—have arrived in the UK.

According to the data, around 198,200 visa applications and 166,200 visas were issued Tuesday.

These comprise 143,200 petitions under the sponsoring program and 55,000 requests under the family plan, out of which 47,200 visas have been approved.

In total, 62.6 percent of everyone to whom each scheme had awarded visas had arrived in the UK.

Over half (52.5%) of individuals seeking visas under the programs have arrived.

These let people who are escaping the crisis in Ukraine enter the UK for up to three years.

Whereas the sponsorship program allows Ukrainian nationals and their relatives to move to the UK if they have a sponsor who can offer to house them, the family program allows them to join other family members who currently reside in the UK.

As of this Thursday, the Government will consider fresh sponsorship petitions from unaccompanied minors who want to enter the UK without a parent or legal guardian, so long as they receive approval from their parents.

Ukrainians are receiving “more than support,” according to Maria Kartashova, who resides in Surrey with her host.

“You help us at every step, invest your time and effort, pay close attention, and demonstrate care,” she said. I’m so grateful that words can’t express it.

Greg Clark, the secretary of state for levelling up, accommodation, and communities, praised everyone for hosting Ukrainians in their residences.

But he said there are 100,000 painful stories of families torn apart and forced to abandon their fathers, sons, and brothers hidden behind this record.

“For this cause, we desire stability and peace in Ukraine so that its brave citizens can return to their homes in safety.”

Lord Richard Harrington, the minister for refugees, said: “Without kind individuals all around the nation opening their doors, we wouldn’t be capable of welcoming 100,000 people from Ukraine to our borders.

We must honor the public’s unselfish efforts to assist Ukrainians in integrating into their societies.

To protect as many Ukrainians as possible, we must make an effort to get this right. “We admire that families are having to make hard choices to escape their homes,” the statement reads.

We are concerned that the initiatives need the right support to be as successful as feasible.

Despite praising the public’s “really remarkable” generosity, Tamsin Baxter, executive director of external affairs at the Refugee Council, noted that delays and red tape have plagued the programs.
